Multiple gunmen opened fire at a home party in Los Angeles early Sunday, killing four people and injuring one, according to authorities.

According to Mayor James Butts, police arrived at 1:30 a.m. to reports of shots fired at a home in the city of Inglewood.

According to CBS2, two women and two men were shot and killed, while another man was taken to the hospital in critical condition but is likely to recover.

The incident was described by Butts as a “ambush” involving many firearms, including a rifle and a handgun. The incident, according to the mayor, was Inglewood’s worst single shooting crime since the 1990s.

He went on to say that the victims appeared to be targeted.

Butts pleaded with the suspects to surrender. “We will find you and prosecute you,” he assured.

Multiple suspects are being sought by authorities, he said. Officers spoke with witnesses and walked around the neighborhood looking for security camera footage.

According to CBS2, the individual who survived acknowledged to be a member of a street gang in another city, and authorities are attempting to ascertain whether the shooting was gang-related.

Inglewood is a 100,000-person city located 10 miles (16 kilometers) southwest of downtown Los Angeles. It is home to SoFi Stadium, which will host the Super Bowl next month.
