Three products that destroy the brain faster

Some products are good for your brain, while others might speed up the aging process and cause cognitive decline. Serena Poon, a nutritionist, identified three “inflammatory foods” that are highly harmful to the brain.

According to the findings of a recent study, these foods trigger inflammation in our bodies, which not only degrades physical health but can also make our brain functions decline faster.

“Some of the main inflammatory culprits, such as added sugar, processed meat and refined carbohydrates, are pretty pervasive in the standard American diet,” says the expert.

Too much sugar, according to Poon, “kills” memory and raises the risk of dementia. Sugar, she claims, can be found in practically everything nowadays, from beverages and desserts to ostensibly healthful salad dressings.

“Opt for unsweetened options or explore making your own food at home to keep your sugar consumption in check,” she says.

Refined carbs are the second element to avoid. White bread, baked foods, and breakfast cereals all include them. These carbs are nutritionally worthless. Furthermore, they change the functions of many parts of the brain, significantly increasing the risk of dementia.

“Instead, opt for whole-grain options and other complex carbohydrates such as those found in legumes and vegetables,” clarifies the nutritionist.

The expert also advised against eating processed meat, which is linked to dementia. Furthermore, a diet high in ultra-processed foods is deficient in vitamins and minerals, limiting your body of essential micronutrients and potentially harming your mental health.

Doctors and dietitians recommend that we follow a Mediterranean diet to reduce cognitive impairment.
