Ukraine’s National Agency for the Protection against Corruption (NAPC) has assured Ukrainians that they do not need to declare captured Russian tanks or any other equipment as personal income.

“Have you captured a Russian tank or armored personnel carrier and are worried about how to declare it? Keep calm and continue to defend the Motherland!” says a statement obtained by Interfax from the Ukrainian National Agency for Corruption Prevention (NACP).

“There is no need to declare the captured Russian tanks and other equipment because the cost of this does not exceed 100 living wages (UAH 248,100),” the agency said. The total is approximately $8,300.

A document posted on the NACP’s website on Monday stated that the seizure of tanks or equipment would be regarded a “manifestation of the Ukrainian people’s unity and cohesion in the fight against invaders” and would not be taxable.

“Thanks to the courage and victory of the defenders of the Ukrainian state, hostile military equipment, weapons, and other armor arrive as scrap. It is impossible to evaluate such objects in accordance with the Law of Ukraine,” read the NACP’s guidelines.

Ukraine has aggressively opposed Russia’s invasion. Images of what appear to be Russian military vehicles that have been left behind in Ukraine have surfaced in the midst of the conflict.
