Mexico’s coastal wealth is so great that it attracts millions of tourists each year; nonetheless, this beauty is not without risk, as evidenced by the incident in Topolobampo, Sinaloa – Mexico.

The tourist site, located about 245 kilometers northeast of the state capital, Culiacán, offers whale watching, and one of them caused an accident that was captured on camera and shared widely on social media. It’s about a whale jumping out of the ocean and colliding with a boat, resulting in two persons being injured, according to local media.

Witnesses of the cetacean’s surprise caused them to request a retreat from another boat.

Following the incidents, the Tourism Directorate of the municipality of Ahome, which contains the port of Topolobampo, issued a notice and advised residents to take measures.

“For your safety, we ask the maritime community of Topolobampo to take precautions in the waters of the bay to avoid accidents like the one that occurred this afternoon with the whale that visits our shores,” warned the tourist office.

“In the same way, we request to be aware of the care for the ecosystem and protect the mammal. We are in contact with the maritime authorities to follow up and keep the public informed,” they said.
