There’s a Really Weird Link Between Dating and Smoking Singletons

More than three times as many smoking singletons are left on the shelf compared to those who don’t smoke, according to a study.

In a study of 2,000 non-smokers, 38 percent of online daters would swipe left if they were seen smoking or vaping on their profiles.

More men said they swiped left on women who smoked cigarettes on their profiles (42 percent vs. 36 percent) and when they could be seen vaping (38 percent vs 33 percent).

However, a quarter of those polled said roll-up cigarettes were the least appealing smoking device.

As a result, one in every four people acknowledged lying on their dating profiles about their smoking habits.

And 27 percent of people have stopped a date short because the other person was smoking or puffing.

Two-thirds believe it is impolite for their date to smoke around them without first requesting permission, with one in three (32 percent) feeling “disgusted” and 26 percent upset.

“It’s reassuring,” said Darren Griffin, UK national manager for nicotine pouch maker ZYN, which commissioned the research, “that so many non-smokers have suggested healthier alternatives to their dates, and this will no doubt help us achieve our ultimate goal.

“We’re confident that we’ll see a smoke-free world by 2030 – which is still quite a way away.

“But it’s interesting to see that this is already something most people wouldn’t like to see on a potential partners’ dating profile.

In addition, two out of three non-smokers would refuse to go on a second date if their date smoked during their initial encounter, according to the survey.

And more than a third of respondents indicated that the smell of cigarettes during a date was one of the biggest turnoffs.

According to a new study, more than half of online daters would skip an end-of-the-night kiss if their date had recently smoked.

The scent of cigarettes came out on top of a list of top 10 dating “no-nos,” followed by bad breath, body odor, and dirty teeth.

TOP 10 DATE NO-NOs:
