Officials enforcing China’s strict Covid guidelines tied up and left two women in the street after they apparently picked up a takeout meal without masks.

A video captured on Thursday in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, showed two very terrified women with their hands tied at a checkpoint outside the entrance to a residential compound.

In a previous clip, a group of guys dressed as security guards in blue protective suits and uniforms can be seen surrounding the women.

Referencing demonstrations by migrant workers who claim they are being discriminated against during required mass Covid testing campaigns, one of the women can be heard angrily accusing one of the men of discriminating against people from Hubei province.

Before being shoved to the ground and restrained by the group of men, the woman yelled angrily at the staff and instructed them to call the police.

Later, one of the implicated women wrote about the incident on China’s Weibo social media platform.

“My friend got a bit emotional, they put us down even though we did not have any physical confrontation [with them] … my friend’s clothes were also torn apart,” she wrote. “They didn’t allow us to call the police … they were violent to us before even checking our health code.”
