Many people find that owning a pet often includes a number of additional expenses: immunizations, food, healthcare… However, certain pets are capable of amassing their own nest egg, sometimes on a grand scale.

According to a survey by an internet firm that specialized in evaluating the world’s wealthiest animals, Taylor Swift’s cat is worth $97Mln.

Olivia Benson, a Scottish lop-eared cat belonging to Taylor Swift, has amassed a considerable fortune due to her frequent appearances on Swift’s social media, as well as starring alongside her owner in music videos – including the recent hit ‘Blank Space’ – and high-budget advertisements. This has earned her a spot in third place on the list.

Swift adopted Olivia in 2014, and she now shares her home with Meredith Grey and Benjamin Button, two other cats.

Swift named all of her cats after characters from different TV shows. For example, Olivia is named after a character from the show “Law & Order.”

At the top of the list of the wealthiest animals in the world is Gunther VI, a German shepherd who belongs to the Italian media company Gunther Corporation.

Gunther, the dog, is estimated to be worth around $500 million. He inherited his grandfather’s fortune of $80 million when his owner, German countess Karlotta Leibenstein, passed away without children in 1992.

Since inheriting his grandfather’s fortune, Gunther’s wealth has significantly increased due to successful property investments managed by the Gunther Corporation. 

Following Gunther VI in second place on the list is the internet-famous cat Nala, with a fortune of $100 million.
