The Libra Association seems willing to demonstrate that its project is solid and, above all, safe. A reliability that could cost them to achieve taking into account the problems related to the privacy of the data that Facebook, its main driver, has had in the past.

To clear any doubt they have assumed as a mantra that “the security of the Libra blockchain is the most important thing” and this Tuesday they announced the launch of Libra Bug Bounty.

A program initially launched in beta, and now open to any security researcher, with which to test the infrastructure that will support the currency of Facebook in exchange for economic rewards.

Libra Bug Bounty, the rewards program in exchange for ‘bugs’

Libra Bug Bounty was launched as soon as plans for Libra were announced on June 18. The program, then, was opened to fifty security researchers invited by those responsible for the initiative. Professionals with experience in the field of blockchains that were encouraged to examine the platform.

Now, after having minimally tuned the infrastructure, they open the program to anyone. “Our rewards program is designed to encourage members of the security community to deepen, helping us find even the most subtle mistakes,” they explain. And all this while the Libra blockchain is still in the test network and there is no real money in circulation.

Those responsible for the Libra Association point out that participants in Libra Bug Bounty can receive up to US $ 10,000 in rewards for discovering the most critical problems.

In addition to this program, an initial version of the Libra Blockchain code, Libra Core, was also presented under an Apache 2.0 license. The network of tests that will help them “gather comments from the community about the direction of the project and work to ensure a scalable, reliable and safe launch,” they say.
