A column of American military equipment that has left Iraq is located in Syria and is heading towards Deir Ez-Zor, Iraqi Rudaw television reported on Saturday.

The channel showed the arrival of American technology in northern Syria. According to sources, US troops appeared on Syrian territory on Saturday. The column proceeded along the road west of the Rmelan settlement, 40 km from the al-Walid crossing on the border of Iraq and Syria.

Channel sources said that this convoy left Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, on Saturday morning.

Earlier in October, after the start of the Turkish operation in northeast Syria, US President Donald Trump ordered the withdrawal of about one thousand US troops from the region. On October 20, Pentagon chief Mark Esper said the United States plans to move the US military from Syria to Iraq. Then he said that the dispatch of more than 700 troops who were leaving Syria was agreed with Iraq.

In addition, it was reported that the United States will leave a small military contingent in the Deir ez-Zora region in northeast Syria due to the presence of Iran in eastern Syria and the possible access of Damascus to the Deir ez-Zora oil fields.

Esper said on the eve that the American army is strengthening its position in Deir ez-Zor to protect oil fields.

Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov, in response to Esper’s words, said that US troops have no legal right to engage in security activities at oil fields in Syria and also accuses US of facilitating illegal export of oil from Syria.
