This is what happens when untrained rebels fire from a howitzer

Published on

Rebels from one of the illegal armed groups in Syria captured a 130mm M-46 howitzer from the national army and tried to fire with it. However, things did not go as expected.

As can be seen in the video, when firing, the barrel of the howitzer practically pulverizes and disappears after a powerful explosion. Apparently, the rebels used a projectile that was in poor condition and detonated within the barrel itself.

It is also possible that the artillery cannon has already exceeded its useful life and could not withstand the internal pressure that is generated when launching a projectile. Of course, given the low level of training of the rebels, there is a possibility that the incident was caused by an operational error.

Whatever the case, it is obvious that after such a fiasco the artillery cannon will go to a scrapyard. This is good news, as terrorists have repeatedly used different artillery systems they capture to launch attacks against civilian facilities, including hospitals and schools.
