A US F-15C fighter crashed near the British coast, the 48th Combat Wing of the US Air Force reported. The accident with the plane deployed from Lakenheath Air Base in northeast London occurred at approximately 4:40 in the morning (GMT + 4).
“At the time of the accident, the aircraft was on a training mission with a pilot on board,” the agency said, without clarifying the cause of the accident or the condition of the pilot.

The Air Force said a British search and rescue team had been called in to support efforts to find the pilot.
The Royal United Kingdom Air Force (RAF) confirmed the incident in the North Sea, according to a statement from the RAF’s Lakenheath Air Base.
