United Airlines, which owns 49.9% in ExpressJet, has now decided to close its regional airline flights as part of a general pandemic cut.

One of the largest regional air carriers in the USA, ExpressJet Airlines, is preparing to be locked this year, which was affected by the recession caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

ExpressJet is the fourth regional airline to collapse since the pandemic swept through air travel.

The United Airlines Holdings through a subsidiary owns 49.9% of ExpressJet acquired from SkyWest in late 2018 to boost its regional routes.

United has now decided to end its flights with ExpressJet as part of a general pandemic cut.

Formerly known as the Continental Express, the airline was among the top 10 in the world in terms of the number of aircraft, with over 400. It also operated as an independent company and as a charter airline. But these days are a thing of the past.

“It’s a proud old company that had more lives than a cat,” CEO Subodh Karnik said Monday, pledging the smooth transfer of its 131 Embraer SA 145 jets.

It is unclear how many of the 50-seater E145s can be transferred to the also regional CommutAir, in which United owns a stake, or how many will United choose to park on the ground. It is noted that ExpressJet based in Atlanta has 2,800 employees.
