Canadian actor Keanu Reeves, famous for playing the enigmatic Neo in the iconic sci-fi saga ‘The Matrix’, gave a hint of what the fourth instalment of the franchise could look like.
In a short conversation with the presenters of The One Show, on the BBC, the interpreter gave some details about the long-awaited film that will hit theatres in 2022.
Reeves reported that the pace of making of the film has not been affected or interrupted by the pandemic. “We are here, trying to do some magic,” he expressed wryly.
As for the plot of the film, it will be an “inspiring love story.” “We have a wonderful screenwriter and director, Lana Wachowski, who has written a beautiful script,” confessed the actor. Reeves added that this is a kind of “wake-up call” that also “is entertaining and has a lot of action.”
“Everything will be revealed,” Reeves said without elaborating.
In addition to Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, who will return to give life to Neo and Trinity, respectively, the new film by Lana Wachowski will star actors such as Neil Patrick Harris or Jada Pinkett Smith, who will play Niobe. Australian actor Hugo Weaving, who played Neo’s worst enemy, Agent Smith, claimed that he will not be able to return to the Matrix universe, as he is working on another project.
The Matrix trilogy (Matrix, Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions), directed by the Wachowski sisters, grossed more than $ 1.6 billion at the box office and has become a cult work.
