Coca-Cola would shake the market by betting on coffee

The world’s largest soft drink company announces a new product, Coca-Cola with Coffee. Lovers of both drinks will have the possibility to enjoy them in a single can.

To stimulate declining sales in recent years, the soft drink giant made the decision to experiment in the US market by combining coffee and its classic soft drink in one can. The new mix should appear in US stores in January 2021.

Consumers will be able to choose between three flavors: caramel, coffee flavor or vanilla. The drink will come in the same slim metal cans but will be slightly taller than the ones the company has been using to market some products to millennials.

On October 5, Coca-Cola news subscribers received a notification inviting them to sign up for a mailing list so as not to miss the product launch, described as “a delicious afternoon pick-me-up”.

Coca-Cola is not a beginner in the coffee area. It owns the Georgia Coffee and Costa Coffee brands. Coca-Cola with Coffee is also not a completely new product line. A couple of years ago they launched Coca-Cola Plus Coffee on the international market.

Its main competitor in the soft drink market, PepsiCo, also mixed coffee with soda. The Pepsi Café hit shelves in the United States in April 2019 for a limited time. It has almost twice as much caffeine as a regular soda.
