A leading US epidemiologist says the pandemic, which has killed more than 210,000 people in the United States and more than 1 million worldwide, is “No Doubt’ Coronavirus Far More Serious Than Seasonal Flu.”
Leading U.S. epidemiologist Anthony Fauci said that President Donald Trump’s health may have been aided by experimental treatment by Regeneron Inc., in which he received antibodies to fight the disease.
“In all likelihood, he actually improved his health a lot,” Fauci said in an interview with MSNBC.
Fauci also noted that the Covid-19 pandemic, which has killed more than 210,000 people in the United States and more than 1 million worldwide, is far more serious than seasonal flu.
“There is no doubt about it,” Fauci said in response to a question about a tweet from Trump comparing Covid-19 to seasonal flu. Twitter withdrew the tweet.
“I will not participate in a virtual debate. I do not accept it. I will not waste my time on a virtual debate. This is not a debate,” said the US president, rejecting a proposal made by the Independent Election Commission (IEC) shortly before the election.
“I do not think I am contagious at all,” said Trump, who was hospitalized for three days after it was revealed he had contracted the coronavirus and has now returned to the White House for medical treatment. There is no scientific confirmation of his claim.
His campaign staff is proposing that Trump attend a rally instead of the scheduled October 15 debate. Aside from the fact that he is not contagious, Trump believes that he feels good enough to go for the pre-election rallies.
