New research surveyed 2,000 American citizens to better understand how they feel about winter and how they expect to handle the coldest season of the year amid the pandemic.

Half of the respondents fear Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a type of depression that affects people, particularly during the winter. Their concern is because, given the scenario of the COVID-19 pandemic, they will have to be locked in their homes all the time.

In the survey, carried out by OnePoll, 20% of citizens said they had already suffered from SAD the previous winter.

Despite an increase in coronavirus cases in the US, 51% of respondents revealed that they plan to do as many outdoor activities as possible during the months of intense cold, Yahoo said.

37% of survey participants shared that they plan to take walks for fresh air in the winter, while 21% can’t wait to build a snowman.

In fact, many are looking forward to playing in the snow, 19% have already fantasized about a fun snowball fight, and 17% are eager to make angels from the snow falling from the sky.

67% of those surveyed fear winter more than any other season of the year and two in three believe that the coming winter will be extremely challenging.

When asked about what they least like about winter, one in four respondents (25%) answered that it is definitely the low temperatures. For 22%, the worst thing about winter is the arrival of the cold and flu season. Lack of sunlight ranked third on the complaints list, with 20% of the vote.
