A video shared on social media by the SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium in Australia is fascinating Internet users. The images, which have already gone viral, show a male white seahorse, whose species is threatened with extinction, giving birth to one hundred babies.

According to Sea Life, baby seahorses, which are the size of a grain of rice, were born over several days, before the New Year.

On Channel 9, seahorse expert Mitchell Brennan revealed that the aquarium carefully prepared for the arrival of new residents.

“We learned from our first year of creation and made changes in facilities, food supply and management routine to develop a more streamlined and efficient program. We believe that this may have contributed to such a positive start to the season,” said the biologist.

Remember that it is the male seahorses that ‘get pregnant’ through a kind of incubator bag, in which they transport the eggs deposited by the female. During delivery the male moves the tail until the young are born. This process is known as inverted uterus or inverted pregnancy.
