Selena Gomez declares war on Facebook and Google: “cashing in from evil”

Selena Gomez once again accused the big tech companies like Google, Facebook or Twitter – the so-called ‘Big Tech’ – of inciting violence in the US.

“This is about truth versus lies and Facebook, Instagram and big tech companies have to stop allowing lies to just flow and pretend to be the truth,” she said.

In an exclusive interview with AP, she confessed that she is so passionate about the dangers of large internet corporations that she has been working for months on a message on the subject.

“It isn’t about me versus you, one political party versus another”, said the singer.

Gomez added that Facebook “continues to allow” fake news on important topics such as vaccines, the pandemic or the elections, while neo-Nazi groups are not prohibited from “selling racist products” through social networks.

The former Disney girl also stressed that Facebook and Google allowed the posting of advertisements about the alleged electoral fraud “without reviewing them before accepting money.”

“if you can’t you shouldn’t be profiting from it,” she said. They are “not just doing nothing. You’re cashing in from evil,” Gomez said.

The artist promised to continue fighting against misinformation on the networks. “I think that’s my purpose,” the artist said.

This is not the first time the singer has blamed corporations for sowing hatred in society. On January 7, just after the assault on the Capitol by a group of aggressive supporters of Donald Trump, Gomez shared a tweet in which she addressed the founders of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Google.

“Today is the result of allowing people with hate in their hearts to use platforms that should be used to bring people together and allow people to build community,” Gomez stated.

“you have all failed the American people today, and I hope you’re going to fix things moving forward,” she concluded.
