More than seven in ten said they would be happy to risk saving their pet while four out of five consider their dog to be an equal member of the Family

One in three dog owners in the US has risked their lives to save their beloved four-legged, while most Americans are more affectionate with their pet than with their partner.

A survey carried out with help of two thousand American dog owners showed the ways in which they show their love for their favorite four-legged.

More than seven in ten (72%) said they would happily take the risk to save their pet, while four in five (78%) consider their dog to be an equal member of the family.

Do we love dogs more than humans? For some Americans, the bond they have developed with their pet is more important than with their partner.

79% of dog owners were married or in a relationship. Remarkably, 53% of them admit to giving more kisses to their dog than to their partner.

The survey, conducted by “One Poll” on behalf of the food company JustFoodForDogs, also found that three out of five Americans (61%) admit that they would rather hang out with their dog than with some of their acquaintances.

In addition, 47% of respondents claimed to know the names of dogs in their neighbourhood, but not their owners.

Finally, one in two (49%) let their dog sleep with them in bed, while 13% of Americans have no problem when their dog drinks water from their glass.
