Global balance of the coronavirus pandemic on February 27 at 11:00 GMT

The new coronavirus pandemic has caused at least 2,518,080 deaths in the world since the WHO office in China reported the appearance of the disease in December 2019, according to a balance established by AFP this Saturday at 11:00 GMT from official sources.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, more than 113,374,410 people have contracted the disease. Of these, at least 69,506,100 were recovered, according to authorities.

The figures are based on the reports communicated daily by the health authorities of each country and exclude the corrections made a priori by the different organizations.

On Friday, 9,676 new deaths and 421,848 infections were registered in the world. The countries that registered the most deaths according to the latest official balances are the United States with 2,046, Brazil (1,337) and Mexico (782).

The number of deaths in the United States increased to 510,467 with 28,486,575 infections. After the United States, the countries with the most fatalities are Brazil, with 252,835 deaths and 10,455,630 cases, Mexico, with 184,474 deaths (2,076,882 cases), India, with 156,938 deaths (11,079,979 cases), and the United Kingdom, with 122,415 deaths (4,163,085 cases).

Among the hardest hit countries, Belgium has the highest mortality rate, with 190 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by the Czech Republic (189), Slovenia (184), the United Kingdom (180) and Italy (161).

On Saturday at 11:00 GMT and since the beginning of the epidemic, Europe added 848,583 deaths (37,377,892 infections), Latin America and the Caribbean 673,866 (21,221,851), the United States and Canada 532,372 (29,346,951), Asia 255,413 (16,079,068), Middle East 103,754 (5,435,948), Africa 103,143 (3,880,372), and Oceania 949 (32,336).
