Rumors circulate in the British Parliament suggesting that Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s wife, is preparing to start her political career in the United States.

According to murmurs from the Palace of Westminster, the former American actress will “use furore” caused by her recent interview with Oprah Winfrey to “launch a political career that could lead her to the White House,” writes the British Media.

A high-ranking person from the Labor Party, who has been in government since the time of the Tony Blair administration and who has “strong ties to Washington,” assured the outlet that Markle may be establishing contacts with high-level members of the Labor Party. Democratic Party of the USA to build campaign teams and fundraising with a view to the Presidency of the North American country.

“The ‘Blairite’, internationalist and Democratic party networks do not stop talking about the political ambitions of Meghan and her possible sponsors,” said the source who preferred to remain anonymous.

A source added that rumors suggest that Markle has her sights set on the 2024 election. For the next elections in the US, current president Joe Biden will be close to his 82nd birthday, so there are doubts about whether he will run for a second term.

A person close to the Duchess of Sussex, consulted by the tabloid, declined to comment on the rumors.

However, last year, a friend of Meghan Markle told Vanity Fair magazine that one of the reasons Prince Harry’s wife did not renounce her American citizenship when she married a member of the British royal family was to keep the option of participating in American politics open.

“One of the reasons she was not so willing to give up her US citizenship was to have the option of going into politics,” the source close to Markle said at the time.

Upon reaching the White House, Meghan would be the first female president of the United States and the second African-American person to occupy the Oval Office – the first was Barack Obama. She would also be following in the footsteps of President Ronald Reagan who, before ruling the country – between 1981 and 1989 – devoted himself to a Hollywood acting career for four decades.
