In the state of Wisconsin in the village of Bonduel from the private zoo “Doc’s Zoo” on May 22, an old alligator named Rex escaped early in the morning, whom everyone considered fat, lazy, and suffered from “severe arthritis”.
The history of the disappearance and finding of the alligator was written by the owners of the zoo on the page “Doc’s Zoo” on the social network Facebook.
“We are heartbroken that on Saturday May 22nd, one of our alligators went missing from his enclosure. It is important to know that Rex, the missing gator, is very old & has severe arthritis in his jaws making it very difficult to open his mouth more than an inch,” wrote the owners of the zoo.

They noted that Rex is usually very obedient and does not pose a danger to the public.
“Extensive search efforts have continued since his disappearance. If you happen to find Rex, please keep your distance & don’t harm him,” the owners of the zoo said.
They also said that Doc’s Harley-Davidson has provided refuge and long-term care for other unwanted pet alligators and other exotic animals for over 30 years.
“We are privately financed and do not charge a visit to our zoo,” added the owners of the establishment.
The alligator was found two days later.
“Rex the alligator is home safe! He was found by Doc’s son, Steve in the swampy wooded area on the Doc’s complex just before 5pm tonight. What an adventure he must’ve had. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all that helped in our search efforts,” the message says published on May 25 at night.
The owners also posted photos taken when Rex was found.
According to Fox 11 News, zoo owner Steve “Doc” Hopkins, “there was no sign of the enclosure being breached in any way or the gator digging underneath or anything. It’s just very strange. This has never happened before.”

Hopkins was unable to come up with a logical explanation for Rex’s disappearance.
