Who can consume honey daily and who shouldn’t?

The renowned Ancient Greek physician, Hippocrates, placed great importance on honey and encouraged people to consume it daily to regain strength.

A specialist revealed the benefits of this sweet for our health and the cases in which it can be harmful.

Honey is a hypoallergenic food that can be eaten even by pregnant women and mothers who breastfeed their babies. At the same time, specialists warn that it should be consumed in moderation, as it is high in carbohydrates.

“For active people with a normal body mass index, a tablespoon of honey [daily] would not be bad,” said one microbiologist.

But those who have a high body mass index or those who are always hungry and sleepy should limit the consumption of this sweet, since the fructose it contains stimulates the appetite even more.

In addition, this type of carbohydrate accumulates in the form of fat.

These are the benefits of honey

If not consumed in excess, this product can help the body. Natural honey is considered a superfood, as it improves immunity and has antimicrobial and antiviral properties.

Since this food contains a large amount of powerful antioxidants, it effectively removes toxins. Regularly drinking a glass of hot water with a teaspoon of natural honey speeds up this process.

In addition, the natural antimicrobial components of honey normalize the intestinal microflora, which in turn is good for the skin.

Fructose, which is present in honey in large amounts, does not cause sudden spikes in blood sugar, so it can be consumed by diabetics. But, yes, in moderation.

Its consumption also improves the cardiovascular system. Thanks to antioxidants, cholesterol in the blood is not oxidized but is eliminated from the body.

According to numerous studies, it is the oxidized cholesterol that causes plaques to form and heart attacks and strokes.

It is curious that in traditional Indian medical practices honey is still used as an alternative to iodine to disinfect wounds.

Another important benefit of this superfood is the fact that it strengthens the nervous system. The components of honey stimulate the formation of serotonin, part of which is transformed into melatonin.

So honey can help us be in a good mood and sleep well.
