What happens to your body when you only eat berries for a few days and who shouldn’t consume them?

Berries are a tasty and healthy fruit that may be used in a smoothie, a pastry, or any other dish where they can be included. Berries have many health advantages, including weight reduction due to their high fibre and phytonutrient content.

According to Lisa Richards, a dietitian with The Candida Diet, they function as “antioxidants in the body,” particularly blueberries. Strawberries, in particular, are high in vitamin C, which helps to boost the immune system, according to Richards.

Berries are extremely nutritious foods, capable of positively affecting various areas of our body. They are rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that, according to studies, are able to help our body control cholesterol levels, maintain good skin health and even prevent cancer.

Thus, it is not uncommon to cleanse with diets that suggest consuming only strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and other berries for a few days to “purify” the body and also lose weight.

But would really happen if you stop eating a variety of foods and eat only berries.

In this case, you will receive a load of vitamins and fiber. But there are many more disadvantages, according to an expert.

A diet exclusively based on berries is deficient in various elements necessary for the good health of our body.

In the first place, the diet will only contain carbohydrates, without fats or proteins, which are the material for the formation of cells and a diet with only berries will also have high levels of sugar, which is not recommended

Second, berries and fruits contain a lot of sugar. The daily recommendation is no more than 30 grams [of sugar] per day.

What’s more, eating only berries for a period of time can leave certain organs under stress.

Third, large amounts of berries will create an additional load on the gastrointestinal tract, so the pancreas may not be able to cope with such a volume of fiber.

Finally, a berry detox puts unnecessary stress on the body, as well as slowing down the weight loss process and reducing muscle mass.

While there are numerous benefits to eating berries and so many side effects of eating only berries, there is one significant negative effect that people with diabetes, in particular, should be aware of when selecting the tasty fruit as a snack. When you consume too many berries, your blood glucose levels may drop unusually low.

“Berries also have a vital effect in reducing blood sugar and increasing insulin sensitivity. They reduce the blood glucose spike after a carb-rich meal by blocking the function of some digestive enzymes, They can even slow protein digestion,” says Personal trainer Ben Rose.

Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries are beneficial to health when eaten in a balanced way, along with other healthy foods. Restricting the diet to only these foods, however, can do more harm than good to health.
