Five unexpected benefits of shrimp for your health

Prawns are not only a real delicacy: they are also very beneficial for our health. Here’s why you should include them in your diet if you haven’t already.

They are perfect food for those who want to lose a couple of extra kilos, since they are low in fat and contain only 99 Kcal per 100 grams. They also contain about 20 grams of protein and are rich in iodine, a mineral that helps regulate metabolism.

Their low-fat content makes them a perfect dietary food. But be careful when consuming them, as they have a high cholesterol content.

Prawns are also rich in the powerful antioxidant called astaxanthin that improves our immune function, slows down aging, and protects the cardiovascular system.

This carotenoid is also very beneficial for the eyes.

Shrimp also contains a lot of selenium and vitamin B12. Protein, phosphate, choline, copper, and iodine are all abundant in this clam.

They also are full of plenty of vitamin B3 (niacin), B6 (pyridoxine), and pantothenic acid (all B-complex vitamins), as well as vitamin A and E.

Shrimp is also an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, with approximately equal quantities of EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) (docosahexaenoic acid). Shrimp is a rich source of mineral zinc as well.

Prawns are also good for those who want to have strong teeth. Like other crustaceans, these creatures contain large amounts of calcium and phosphorus, substances that are very important for our teeth and our bone system in general.
