Expert suggests three foods that help relieve chronic body pain

Chronic body pain can reduce the quality of life by impeding basic tasks.

Chronic pain can get worse as the weather gets warmer, as revealed by osteopath Anisha Joshi on ITV’s This Morning.

Fortunately, there are effective treatments for chronic pain. Joshi advises her patients to eat three key foods.

Oily fish, according to Joshi, is essential for easing chronic pain because of their omega-3 content.

Omega-3 fats are a type of unsaturated fat that has a number of health advantages.

“All our cells are wrapped in omega 3,” says Joshi, so it’s no surprise that foods high in unsaturated fat can help with chronic pain.

If you want to relieve chronic pain, she also suggests eating flax seeds.

Omega-3 fatty acids are abundant in flax seeds.

Plant-based foods’ pain-relieving properties are attributed to their anti-inflammatory properties.

“Fifty-seven percent of the total fatty acids in flaxseed oil is alpha-linoleic acid (ALA), one of three omega-3 fatty acids,” explained the Arthritis Foundation.

The ALAs significantly reduced pro-inflammatory compounds in a study where volunteers consumed flaxseed oil for four weeks.

Joshi also suggested taking natural supplements to help with chronic pain symptoms.

Supplementing with ginger spice has been shown to help with chronic pain relief.

It’s commonly used to treat digestive issues, the flu, and nausea, but research suggests it could also help with muscle pain caused by exercise.

A study found that eating two grammes of ginger every day for eleven days reduced muscle pain in exercisers.

In another study, 247 people with osteoarthritis in their knees were given ginger extract for six weeks.

They were in less pain and required fewer pain medications than those who did not.

As this study suggests a fish oil supplement can be taken if fish cannot be consumed as part of your diet.

Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in several studies.

This trend, according to Joshi, is due to two factors. First, there’s dehydration.

“Joints need lubrication to avoid friction,” she explained.

People are also less active in the heat and keeping moving can help keep joints mobile.

“Rest is rust, motion is lotion,” noted Joshi.
