A vegetable may hold the key to the breakdown of cholesterol gallstones as well as normal biliary and liver function. We’ll tell you what it’s all about.

Gallstones form when specific chemical compounds, such as bile pigments and cholesterol, harden within the gallbladder, producing significant discomfort in the abdomen and back, as well as nausea and vomiting.

Black radish, a vegetable with a long history of therapeutic application in Mexico as part of traditional herbalism, has been shown to be capable of breaking down gallstones produced by cholesterol.

According to a study conducted by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), black radish also improves liver function and lowers blood cholesterol levels.

Unlike pink radish, black radish is peppery and has its own medical benefits, according to the university. It also has key ethnobotanical uses in traditional Mexican medicine to cure gallstones.

Furthermore, it has been found that black radish juice has a cholesterol-lowering effect, that is, it lowers blood lipid levels.
