Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, made this comment on Thursday, February 24, according to Interfax.

According to her, this is not the start of the battle, but it is the first step towards averting the escalation of events that could lead to a global conflict.

Now, she added, that the war that has lasted eight years has come to an end.

“This is not the beginning of a war, this is a prevention of the development of a situation that may or could lead to a global military confrontation and the end of the war that was being waged,” Zakharova said – translated version.
