After a battery of tests, doctors determined that the baby had ‘fetus in fetu,’ a condition characterized as the presence of one of two fetuses inside of another’s body.

Doctors in India’s Bihar state discovered a fetus growing inside a 40-day-old infant and were able to properly treat it.

The incident was apparently discovered after the child’s parents noticed the baby’s distended tummy, which prevented him from urinating properly.

Dr. Tabrez Aziz of the Rahmania Medical Centre in Bihar performed computed tomography (CT) scan of the baby’s stomach, which revealed a fetus growing inside the infant’s stomach, shocking everyone.

The presence of a fetus in the child’s tummy was discovered after a series of examinations by a team of experts.
The physicians described the abnormality as ‘fetus-in-fetu,’ a rare medical ailment that occurs in one out of every 500,000 (half a million) patients, according to the Indian news agency ANI.

The child is now healthy after surgery, according to Dr. Aziz, and has been discharged from the hospital.

Experts agree that a successful ‘fetus-in-fetu’ operation necessitates a high level of suspicion and rigorous surgical skills.

A similar incident occurred five years ago in Hong Kong when a newborn was born with the fetus of her own sibling inside her.

In Israel, a mother gave birth to a baby girl with the embryo of her twin inside her tummy in 2019.
