ISS warns of collision with the US Military satellite BRICSat-2

BRICSat-2 is an experimental communication satellite. It was launched into orbit in 2019 by SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket.

The orbit of the International Space Station (ISS) will be adjusted to ensure it avoids a collision with a US space satellite. This was reported by Roscosmos on Saturday, September 12.

On Monday, September 14, 2020, at 02:23 Moscow time, the International Space Station is predicted to approach the US military satellite BRICSat-2, which has turned into the so-called “space debris,” the message says.

According to Roscosmos, experts confirm the need to manoeuvre the evasion of the station from a dangerous object, assessing the probability of this event.

“An evasion manoeuvre can be scheduled from 00:00 to 01:00 Moscow time on September 14, 2020. Specialists of the Roscosmos State Corporation continue to monitor this situation,” the corporation added.

BRICSat-2, a communications experimental satellite (CubeSat) operated by the US Navy, was launched into orbit in 2019 by a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket.

Roscosmos stated that it has repeatedly drawn the attention of partners to new threats in outer space that arise in connection with the creation of low-orbit satellite constellations, and proposes to develop the necessary interaction regulations.
