According to the specialists at ZOE, the research app that conducts the world’s largest studies on both covid symptoms and covid-related nutrition, implementing some easy dietary modifications could reduce your risk of hospitalization by up to 40 percent. Therefore, you do not need to live like Scarface to increase your odds against covid infections on the rise.

Being completely immunized is the greatest approach to increase your immune system’s resistance to covid, but modifying your regular diet can also help.

The immune system and stomach work in harmony.  Your immune system helps maintain the integrity of your gut, and what you eat and drink can significantly affect your immunity, according to experts at ZOE.

Your body’s immune system is a sophisticated network of tissues, organs, and cells that can identify and destroy invading infections like the coronavirus. Even though scientists are still trying to figure out how this immune system eradicates foreign bodies, ZOE investigation identified a connection between good gut health and a stronger natural defense against serious infections.

In their extensive research, ZOE discovered 15 bacteria in your stomach that facilitate this process. Therefore, a poor diet or the use of antibiotics might eliminate beneficial bacteria, resulting in a compromised immune response.

Their research shows that these healthy microbes can be kept alive by eating a healthy diet that is rich in:

  • Fruits and Vegetables
  • whole grains
  • fatty fish or seeds and nuts
  • Plenty of fermented foods that are good for the gut

A balanced diet that includes these foods that promote the growth of bacteria is directly related to losing weight and having better physical health in general.

A meta-analysis of 54 studies published in the British Medical Journal indicated that obese people have a 45 percent increased risk of contracting covid and three times increased risk of developing severe symptoms and dying from the virus.

Numerous supplements promise to improve the body’s immune system response to the coronavirus, but the data scientists at ZOE have a word of caution regarding claims of health benefits, saying: “Manufacturers that claim their supplements fight COVID are likely just looking to make money”.

This is not to imply that their supplements are unsafe, but they should not be used in place of vaccinations and other tried-and-true safety precautions, like wearing a mask.
