New Alternative to Green Tea? This Drink Has More Benefits Than You Might Think, Says Doctor

The Daily Routine No Longer Includes Green Tea: Doctor Shares Anti-Cholesterol Drink You Should Drink Daily to Prevent Heart Disease Risk

Elevated cholesterol levels can pose a significant threat to cardiovascular health, often acting as the precursor to heart disease, a leading cause of death worldwide.

After statin medication, a wholesome diet ranks second in terms of efficacy in controlling cholesterol levels.

However, the battle against high cholesterol extends beyond solid food to include beverages, according to Dr. Tim Bond, a prominent Chemist and Tea Researcher from the Tea Advisory Panel.

By incorporating a daily cup of chamomile tea into your diet, you may witness a decrease in the levels of this fatty substance, thereby reducing your chances of developing heart disease.

The cardiovascular benefits of chamomile are attributable to its rich antioxidant profile.

Dr. Bond explains: “Chamomile herbal infusions are abundant in flavones, a type of flavonoid antioxidant.”

These flavones not only inhibit the production of cholesterol but also enhance the function of LDL receptors on cells, promoting the removal of LDL [“bad”] cholesterol from the bloodstream.

This isn’t just a claim from an expert; a study published in the Journal of Endocrinological Investigation provides supporting evidence. The research discovered that chamomile tea could reduce high cholesterol levels by approximately 18%.

In this study, 64 participants were instructed to drink either three cups of chamomile tea or hot water daily. The results indicated that chamomile tea could decrease levels of “bad” cholesterol, total cholesterol, and triglycerides, another harmful type of fat present in the blood.

These properties make chamomile tea a beneficial addition to a heart-healthy diet.

Dr. Bond further explains: “Because chamomile herbal infusions lower cholesterol, particularly “bad” cholesterol and triglycerides without altering HDL (“good”) cholesterol, this tea can reduce the risk of heart disease.”

The same study also noticed a decrease in insulin levels and signs of poor blood sugar control, factors which may further lower the risk of heart disease.

For those who aren’t keen on chamomile, Dr. Bond suggests black tea as an alternative, attributing its heart health benefits to its high flavonoid content.
