It is known as Alkaline Diet and is based on the belief that certain foods are capable of affecting the acidity and pH of body fluids and, in this way, improve health. There are no studies to prove its effectiveness, but the diet is very popular in show business. Among the fans of this diet, are the former member of the British pop group Spice Girls Victoria Beckham or the actresses Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow.

What is the diet?
Followers of the alkaline diet are convinced that the perfect pH of the blood is slightly alkaline, while increased blood acidity affects the metabolism and immune response of the body. However, most of the foods we eat produce so-called acid ash, something that is not recommended for our physical well-being.
Among the bad foods for pH include red meat and fish except salmon – trout and, seafood, animal fat, such as milk and cheese and eggs. Sweets including honey, white rice, mushrooms and sauces are also not recommended. Also, forget about coffee and tea, sodas and alcoholic beverages!
On the other hand, foods such as fruits and vegetables – even acidic foods such as citrus fruits, since paradoxically they are considered alkaline in this diet, chicken, grains, ginger and coconut or almond milk are considered the healthiest.
Although the most loyal adherents of the diet, including Beckham, include up to 80% of alkaline foods in their diet, experts agree that the most important thing is to eat a balanced diet. Also, you should be careful if you suffer from cardiovascular disease or have problems with the kidneys or digestive tract since many foods in this diet are rich in fiber, which can make your stomach hurt or suffer from indigestion.
