Hu Xijin, the editor-in-chief of China’s state-run newspaper “Global Times,” has posted a short video on Twitter purporting to show tennis player Peng Shuai, who is believed to have vanished, at the start of a youth tennis tournament in Beijing on Sunday. The group published a video of Peng Shuai in a restaurant on Saturday.
Another video purporting to show tennis player Peng Shuai, who is believed to have vanished, has been shared by China’s state media. Hu Xijin, the editor-in-chief of the state-run tabloid “Global Times,” posted a short clip on Twitter on Sunday that appears to show Peng Shuai at the start of a junior tennis tournament in Beijing. You can see how she and the other guests are addressed by name and received with cheers from the audience. She waves and grins briefly, but she remains silent.

On the Weibo social network in early November, Peng Shuai accused a major Chinese politician of sexual assault. Since then, the Chinese woman has not been seen in public. Chinese state television apparently published updated images of the tennis player on Twitter on Friday evening. Peng Shuai is intended to reveal a video while eating dinner with friends in a Beijing restaurant, according to a video leaked on Saturday – again via Twitter.

“This video alone is insufficient,” Steve Simon, head of the international women’s tennis organization WTA, commented on the restaurant clip. “As I have stated from the beginning, I remain concerned about Peng Shuai’s health and safety and that the allegation of sexual assault is being censored and swept under the rug. I have been clear about what needs to happen and our relationship with China is at a crossroads.”
It is not clear whether she can act without coercion. He continues to worry about their health and safety and that their sexual assault allegations are obviously being censored, Simon said. Because of the affair, the WTA threatens to withdraw the tennis tour completely from China.
In the past few days, worldwide clarification has been demanded in the case of the former number one in the double world rankings. Even the White House under US President Joe Biden expressed “deeply concerned”.
