The ex-president of the United States said that he was very interested in the idea of heading the House of Representatives of the US Congress.

Former US President Donald Trump said that he was interested in the idea of competing for the chair of the US House of Representatives.

However, he did not appreciate his chances of running in the midterm elections to the House in 2022, according to the publication Hill.

The idea was previously expressed by former Trump aide Steve Bannon, and a question to the former president was asked by an ultra-right radio host.

“That’s so interesting,” Trump was quoted as saying.

However, in order to become speaker of the House, Trump needs not only to win elections in the district where he is running but also to get the support of the majority of Congressmen, that is, Republican representation in the House must be superior to Democratic.

Meanwhile, in the 2018 elections, Republicans lost their majority in the House. In 2020, the Democrats lost their seats but retained the lead.

Nancy Pelosi became the Speaker of the House in 2019.

The former president said some suggested he should run for the Senate, from another house of Congress.

“Yeah, you know it’s very interesting,” Trump further added, stating that others had proposed he run for Senate.

“But you know what, your idea might be better. It’s very interesting.”
