The world has turned upside down with the George Floyd case. The murder of this black man by the hands of the police has served as a shock for society to take to the streets and demand that the police brutality against the African American population end. Anti-racist protests have invaded streets around the world and the slogan Black Lives Matter grabs posters at rallies and hashtags on networks. Now, Kanye West has wanted to have a gesture towards Floyd’s family and has offered to pay for the studies of the deceased’s daughter.

Gianna is only six years old and confidently affirms that “My dad has saved the world”. The girl has lost her father due to the police, who, in theory, should protect American citizens. What the little girl may not yet understand is that if you are black, things can be different.

The wave of protests that have rocked the world is showing that the general sentiment is an outrage. Celebrities have offered to pay bail for detainees in the protests, many of them have taken to the streets to support the cause and many others are making donations for the African American population.

Singer Kanye West has wanted to contribute his grain of sand and has opened a fund to finance little Giana’s university studies. The artist has covered the cost of tuition and has also donated two million dollars to help the relatives of the three black citizens killed by the police in 2020.

These are, in addition to George Floyd, Ahmaudd Arbery and Breonna Taylor. The first was shot while playing sports by a former policeman that he came across in Georgia. The second was killed at his home, in the middle of an irregular police operation in Louisville.

The donation of two million dollars of Kanye West seeks to help families of victims to pay the fees of his lawyers, as well as collaborating with businesses owned by black people in Chicago.
