The number of food recalls has increased in recent years, and many items have been withdrawn from shelves so far in February. A few frozen favorites and even a snack sold at Costco and other stores have the potential to be harmful to your health, but now there are a few more.

Everything you need to know about the recent recalls announced by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

Cans of Skyline Chili: According to an FSIS recall statement, Morgan Foods of Austin, Ind., claims that over 2,200 pounds of its canned Skyline Chili is incorrectly labeled and may contain undeclared allergens. It’s possible that what appears to be chili is actually cream of chicken soup. The soup’s ingredients include milk, wheat, and soy, which aren’t included on the chili’s label.

“The problem was discovered by consumers who reported to the company that the cans labeled as chili contained cream of chicken soup,” the notice reads. “There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.”

The cans were shipped nationwide and have an expiration date The cans were distributed throughout the United States and have an expiration date of December 21, 2024, as well as a lot code of L2121 and a product code of CHC8T UPY. Because the chili is shelf-stable, you may make it ahead of time, “FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ pantries. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”

Driscoll’s Strawberries: According to the alert, some batches of these strawberries exceeded the government’s “Maximum Residual Limit (MRL) for the pesticide Etoxazole.” Despite the fact that the recall has been “terminated,” the FDA has classified it as a Class III incident, which means that “use of, or exposure to…a product is not likely to cause adverse health consequences.”

Pretty Thai Sweet Chili Sauce: According to the FDA, nearly 920 cases of Ponder Foods’ Pretty Thai Chili Stir Fry & Barbecue Sauce in 11.2-ounce bottles sold in New York and Texas may contain undeclared peanuts.

The FDA recently classified this recall as a Class II recall, which is “a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote,” according to the FDA.

Brut and Sure sprays: the firm is “voluntarily recalling aerosol spray products showing an expiration date of August 2023 or earlier. This recall is being made out of an abundance of caution due to the presence of benzene in the products.”

Benzene is a carcinogen for humans, and repeated exposure can cause leukemia, blood cancer, and blood problems. The FDA says there have been no reports of illnesses linked to these deodorants, but it is issuing the warning out of an excess of caution.
