Caden Cotnoir, 13, was watching a stream of Trent Jarrett, 12, riding his four-wheeler in West Virginia when something appeared to go wrong.

Suddenly the video went black, and Caden could hear shouting.

From his bedroom in New Hampshire, he heard Trent screaming out numbers, so quickly rushed to note them down.

“All of a sudden his phone goes kind of blank, you can see a little bit of light and you can just hear him yelling for help,” Caden told WMUR-TV.

Trent was shouting out his grandparents’ phone number, as it was the only one he could remember, in the hope someone was still listening on the app.

Caden then called the number and Trent’s parents were notified.

They managed to locate him and found him trapped under the quad bike.

After 20 minutes stuck underneath it, Trent sustained minor cuts and bruises, but Caden’s stepfather – who is chief of the local Gilmanton Police – credited him with saving his life.

“He did was he was supposed to do and got the right people and it worked out. It was an Easter miracle,” police chief Matt Currier told the TV station.

Caden had been following Trent on TikTok as a result of their shared interests in fishing and hunting.

They met via Zoom on Monday when Trent said: “I’d just like to thank him for everything that’s he done.”

Meanwhile Caden said the incident strengthened their virtual friendship.

“I think so, (yeah) if something happens, I’m always there in his thing so if something ever goes wrong I’ll most likely be there, like to help and stuff, hopefully we’ll get to meet some day,” he said.
