Falling off a cliff: A man survives after falling from a 300-meter height in North Carolina mountains

Rescuers worked for six hours, but it turned out that the hiker received minor injuries and went home on his own.

In North Carolina, a man walking in the mountains fell from a height of 300 meters. But despite the fall, the American survived.

The accident happened on April 4 near Blue Ridge Parkway. The police report that a man fell off a cliff of Slate Rock in the Pisgah Forest.

Rescuers worked at the scene for six hours. Soon the victim, with minor injuries, got to his feet and went home.

“We estimate he rolled/tumbled almost 1,000 feet from start to finish,” The Transylvania County Rescue Squad said in a statement,” says the Transylvania Rescue Service.

“Somehow, he only had minor injuries.”

Slate Rock is known for its view of mountain peaks in the western part of the state.

The rescue took six hours to complete and is the third rescue of a hiker in the state in 2021.

In January a hiker was critically injured after falling 50 feet at Pilot Mountain State Park, and in February a hiker fell and was hospitalised after an incident at Hanging Rock State Park.
