The city’s Department of Sanitation has issued a snow alert for Wednesday and has predicted eight inches of snow as the nor’easter snowstorm is expected to touch down

Outdoor Dining in New York city’s restaurant and Pubs will be shut down starting from Wednesday at 2 pm.

The Department of Sanitation has issued a snowstorm alert for the powerful nor’easter snow storm that is forecasted to barrel through the east coast on Wednesday around 2 pm dumping about eight inches of snow on New York.

For the safety of people, restaurants are ordered to shut down outdoor dining after 2 Pm on Wednesday. The city will notify the restaurants as the conditions stabilize when they can reopen the Outdoor Dining.

According to the forecast, the Snowstorm is estimated to be over by Thursday evening, allowing restaurants to open, but nothing can be said for sure before Friday morning when actual accumulations and road conditions will come in.

The Department of sanitation has issued guidelines for the restaurant owners, stating that patrons are not allowed to sit in roadway setups and restaurants should remove or secure tables and chairs. The overhead covering and heaters should also be removed.

Outdoor dining was shut down last Sunday in New York for two weeks as the coronavirus infection rate surged in the city. Restaurants were only allowed to operate with outdoor dining and take out.

In New York, more than 784,000 people have tested positive for COVID-19 and there have been more than 27,800 recorded deaths.

More than 100,000 people work in New York’s now struggling Restaurant industry with outdoor dining shut due to weather the problems are only going to increase for these people.

Even after the snowstorm quiets down the industry might not be able to reopen fully. As under the Department of Sanitation’s guidelines, the restaurants can continue outdoor dining under a Winter Operations Advisory only when there’s less than an inch of snow accumulation.

With snow storm leaving eight inches of thick snow in the city, it is going to be a tough winter for New York city’s Restaurant industry.

Mayor Bill De Blasio admitted that the next two months are going to be tough for the restaurant operators.

“We’ve got to bring this industry back. We’ve got to bring back the restaurants, but it’s going to take time.”

Mayor de Blasio, while taking about snow storm affecting Restaurant industry.

The department of sanitation has started to prepare for the storm, they will turn collection trucks into snow plows and salt spreader vehicles are ‘filled and ready to go’ to melt snow on roads.
