In a grim discovery, hospital staff found an infant discarded in a trash can by a teenage mother who claims she was unaware of her pregnancy.
The footage shows Alexee Trevizo, a 19-year-old, rushing into a bathroom at a New Mexico hospital in January.
Trevizo had sought medical attention at Artesia General Hospital due to back pain, but tests revealed she was actually pregnant and in labor.
According to investigators, the startled teen then made her way to the hospital bathroom, as depicted in the footage, leaving the toilet and returning to her hospital room after approximately 20 minutes. Tragically, upon inspecting the toilet, staff discovered a lifeless baby boy discarded in the trash can.
The investigation reveals that Trevizo gave birth to the baby boy inside the bathroom before callously placing him in the trash can. In May, she was charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. To monitor her movements until a trial date is determined, she will be required to wear an ankle tag.

The harrowing video captures the distressing aftermath, with a staff member painstakingly cleaning the blood-stained bathroom. Overwhelmed by the shocking discovery, the cleaner calls another staff member to witness the contents of the trash bag, causing both to recoil in horror. Supportive colleagues console the shaken cleaner.
Subsequently, the police arrive at the scene, and bodycam footage captures the moment a doctor informs Trevizo and her mother, “We discovered a dead baby in the bathroom.”
Expressing remorse, the teen replies, “I’m sorry, it came out of me and I didn’t know what to do … I was just scared, it was not crying or nothing.”
In a state of distress, Trevizo’s mother desperately asks her daughter, holding her head in her hands, “What did you do?”
Demanding answers, she questions, “What did you do to it?” before the doctor intervenes and instructs her to “stop right there.”
The doctor explains, “The number one priority guys is she just had a baby, I don’t know whether she has delivered the placenta. She’s bleeding significantly’ she says, before explaining that the teenager must be moved to the obstetrician.
“I’m sorry about this, but in terms of delivering a baby and it looked like you tried to hide it, we do have to have the police involved.
“The baby is going to have to be taken for autopsy and there will be an investigator and everything.
“I’m so sorry, but we need to do this correctly and I want to be transparent with you about what our steps are going to be.”
Trevizo remained under police custody in the hospital until detectives arrived to conduct their interview. Investigators state that by the time the baby was discovered, it had already passed away. In March, the autopsy confirmed the cause of death as a homicide.
Gary C. Mitchell, Trevizo’s attorney, argues that the teenager, with no prior criminal record, should not face a murder charge, citing “major discrepancies about what happened” in the hospital and claiming “this isn’t a classic child abuse case.”
