11 men accused of raping and murdering a flight attendant at a New Year’s party

The 23-year-old worked at Phillipines Airlines, was also a model and had been a beauty queen. Her body was found in a hotel bathtub on January 1.

A heinous crime occurred in the Philippines on New Year’s Eve when 11 men raped and later murdered a Philippines Airlines flight attendant leaving her corpse lying in a hotel room.

According to the Philippine press, several of her crewmates were with her the night of her death. Those testimonies say they saw her unconscious and naked in the bathtub, first they covered her with a blanket but since she did not respond they tried to give her cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but nothing worked.

Not getting a response from Christine, her colleagues decided to take her to Makati hospital where doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival.

According to the first medical reports, Christine died of an aneurysm, but suspicions that the young woman had been raped and murdered arose from the police, confirming that she had “lacerations and sperm on her genitals”, as well as scratches on her arms and legs.

“According to the initial investigation, sexual abuse occurred,” the Philippine National Police spokesman told the New York Post.

Charges of rape with murder were provisionally brought by Makati police against 11 men who were with the young flight attendant at the New Year’s Eve party. Three of them have already been arrested and are in the custody of the authorities.

However, a Filipino judge ordered the release of the suspects on the grounds that there was not enough evidence to show that Christine had been raped and if so whether that would have caused her death.

Christine was a stewardess in General Santos city (Philippines) and her friends nicknamed her “Ica”. She had graduated from Mindao University, an institution that highlighted her in a statement issued after her death as an “example of honor and excellence in academics” and said she “had a great passion for the performing arts.”

The 23-year-old was also a model and had been a beauty queen. Her death has not yet been fully clarified, although the first statements by the police point to the homicide.

Several videos of the party have been broadcast on social media. One of them shows Christine entering a hotel room accompanied by Valentine Rosales, one of the suspects arrested. In the images, young people are seen laughing and kissing before entering the room.

Another video shows Christine being charged apparently unconscious by a young man who appears to enter the same room. A third video shows Christine still conscious inside the room and surrounded by men who along with her celebrated the new year.

“Christine doesn’t deserve this brutality, the culprits deserve to be punished,” said Christine’s mother, Sharon Dacera.

“This death cannot be considered a result until those responsible are held accountable,” the Philippine Human Rights Commission said in a press release.

The events that led to Christine’s death should continue to be clarified, meanwhile, on social networks, her name has already started to go viral under the hashtag #JusticeForChristineDacera.
