During the talks between China and the United States, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed a two-pronged solution to the Ukrainian crisis.
On the occasion of separate talks with the foreign ministers of Zambia, Algeria, and Tanzania in east China’s Anhui Province, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi told CGTN that President Xi had “clearly and comprehensively” defined China’s position on the Ukraine crisis.
The most essential message delivered by the Chinese president, according to Wang, is that China has always been a promoter for international peace.
“We have always stood for maintaining peace and opposing war. This is not only embedded in China’s history and culture, but also the foreign policy China has always committed to,” Wang said.
He went on to say that China will keep making an independent assessment based on the merits of each case in an objective and impartial manner.
“We will never accept any external coercion or pressure, and we will also oppose any groundless accusations or suspicions targeted against China,” the official added.
According to the Chinese foreign ministry, President Xi also recommended a two-pronged Chinese solution to the Ukraine situation during the talks.
All parties must work together to support conversation and negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, end hostilities as quickly as possible, and prevent civilian losses, especially to avert a rising humanitarian situation, according to Wang.
To achieve permanent peace and security on the European peninsula, he said, a lasting answer would be to reject the Cold War mentality, avoid from bloc confrontation, and construct a balanced, effective, and sustainable security architecture for the area.
Wang stated that China’s viewpoint is objective and fair, and that it is consistent with the ambitions of most countries.
“Time will tell that the Chinese stance is on the right side of history.”
