The Russian Federation’s military troops have taken control of the Zaporizhzhia NPP site. The press service of the State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation confirmed this on Friday morning, March 4.
“ZNPP power units maintain their integrity, there are damages to the building structure of the reactor compartment of power unit No. 1, which do not affect the safety of the power unit. Systems and elements important for the safety of the NPP are in working condition,” the report says.
It is noted that changes in the radiation state have not been recorded at the current time.
The SNRCU’s Information and Crisis Command has been activated. SNRCU and SSTC NRS specialists maintain contact with Zaporizhzhia NPP management.
Condition of the power units: power unit No. 1 continues scheduled preventive maintenance, power units No. 2, 3 are disconnected from the network and nuclear installations are being cooled, power unit No. 4 is in operation (electric power is 690 MW), power units No. 5, 6 are cooling nuclear installations.
Operational personnel control the state of power units and ensure their operation in accordance with the requirements of technical regulations for safe operation.
Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced that they were launching the Center for Incidents and Emergencies around the clock due to a fire at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant caused by shelling by the invaders.
