A small baby elephant was run over by a motorcycle while crossing a road in Thailand. Fortunately, he was able to survive thanks to a passerby who rushed to help the injured animal.
It was the first time that Mana Srivate – who has worked as a rescuer for 26 years – performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on an animal. In the video of what happened, he is seen doing compressions with both hands on the pachyderm baby’s chest.
Before performing the resuscitation, which lasted about 10 minutes, the man had to watch a video on the Internet to find out more exactly where the heart of the little elephant was located.

“When he started moving, I almost cried,” he later confessed.
“It is my instinct to save lives, but he was very worried all the time because he could hear his mother and the other elephants,” he added.
Later, the baby elephant was cared for by a team of doctors, after which he was reunited with his family, who were waiting for him near the crash site.
