When Reese Witherspoon is mistaken for her 22-year-old daughter, she ‘feels young’

In a recent interview, Reese Witherspoon bragged about her daughter Ava Phillippe and said she enjoys being mistaken for her.

After Gayle King pointed out Ava’s strong likeness to her Oscar-winning mother, the actress, 45, said she welcomes the similarities when people mistake her for her 22-year-old daughter.

The Hollywood star told Gayle for InStyle:

“Well, I love being mistaken for her because it makes me feel so young.

“I am so proud of her. She really rolls with it. I’m sure it’s not easy looking exactly like your mother.”

Gayle quickly corrected the actress, saying: “Reese, stop it! When Mama looks like you, it is very easy.

Reese then revealed she and Ava talk to Big Little Lies co-star Zoë Kravitz a lot because she looks exactly like her mother, Lisa Bonet.

She added: “Whenever Ava is frustrated, I go, ‘Call Zoë, text Zoë, she knows what to talk about.’ I mean, that’s another mother-daughter combo that’s like identical twins.”

As for whether Ava wants to follow her mum’s footsteps and enter the world of showbiz, Reese said she is currently “studying and trying to find herself”.

She also said Ava is “so down-to-earth” and hoping to do “great things in the world”.

As well as Ava, Reese also shares son Deacon, 18, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe and nine-year-old Tennessee with Hollywood mogul, Jim Toth.

Reese told King “it’s an odd situation” because she didn’t grow up famous, whereas her children have.

However, she said her family are “lucky enough to have friends who grew up in Hollywood” who are on hand to give her children advice on how to navigate life in the spotlight.

Reese recently reunited with ex Ryan to celebrate Deacon’s 18th birthday.

She shared a photographs of herself, Ryan and Deacon tucking into a huge chocolate cake and captioned the post: “So proud of our boy … I mean our ADULT Son! How did this happen?!! @deaconphillippe is 18?!!

“One day he was trading Pokémon cards, singing Bruno Mars songs, and playing American Ninja Warrior in the backyard.

“The next day, he is taller than me, cooking the family steaks on the grill and making his own music with his best friends. My heart is bursting with pride about the young man he is becoming.”

Deacon’s dad Ryan was equally proud and posted: “‘Happy 18th birthday to our gorgeous, smart, talented, and caring son. You are a true light in this world and are so loved by all who know you.

“‘We are lucky to be your mom and dad. Love you, pup..(I’d say we did pretty good @reesewitherspoon).”
