Doctors named the symptoms of deadly snoring

Snoring might be natural in certain circumstances, while in others it can be deadly.

Obstructive sleep apnea affects at least 25 million Americans and 936 million people globally, with many more going undiagnosed.

Researchers at Harvard Medical School and Keck Medical University in California have identified eight primary markers of dangerous snoring.

Scientists noted that sometimes snoring is not dangerous, for example, due to a cold or allergy, which blocks the nasal passages, the muscles of the tongue, palate and throat relax and let air pass through the soft tissues, causing vibration. To recognize a dangerous disease, experts advise using an eight-symptom guide.

First, you should pay attention to the volume of your snoring. So, suspicion should be caused by unpleasant sounds that are heard by others even with closed doors.

“When it’s loud, raucous snoring, or it’s interrupted by pauses in breathing, that’s where we start to get concerned,” warned sleep specialist Rebecca Robbins.

In addition, if the family observe sudden respiratory stoppage, coughing, wheezing, or indicators that the individual is suffocating in a snorer in a dream, they must be attentive.

The hallmark symptoms of unhealthy snoring can be severe tiredness and sleepiness during the day. In addition, the reason to see a doctor is a tendency to hypertension.

The BMI (body mass index) is the next indicator; those with a BMI of 35 or more are more likely to suffer from obesity as well as apnea. People over the age of 50 are at risk, according to doctors, because muscle tone, especially that of the soft palate and neck, diminishes with age, which can lead to a variety of health problems.

A large neck circumference (greater than 43 cm for men and 40.6 centimeters for women) can be a sign of obstructive sleep apnea, among other things.

According to statistics, men are more prone than women to develop the condition.
