A study, which was published in the journal Current Developments in Nutrition, looked at how a single dose of eight ounces of pomegranate juice affected the amount of glucose in the blood.

21 people who were healthy and “normal” weight were chosen by the researchers.

These participants were given the option of drinking water, pomegranate juice, or a water-based beverage to match the amount of sugar in the pomegranate juice at random.

Following this regimen, the individuals underwent a week-long washout period before taking the new drinks.

Additionally, the researchers took fasting blood sugar readings prior to the drink as well as 15, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, and 180 minutes later.

In case you didn’t know, fasting blood sugar refers to your glucose levels following an overnight fast.

According to the volunteers’ fasting serum insulin levels, the volunteers were likewise split into two groups.

Water consumption had no impact on any participant’s blood sugar levels, while pomegranate juice showed encouraging outcomes.

At 15 minutes, the blood sugar levels of those with low insulin levels when woke up dropped significantly.

At the end of the study, the researchers said that their findings suggest that components of pomegranate juice “likely” control how people use glucose.

The strong antioxidant content of pomegranate juice is one of its powerful components.

Pomegranates contain a lot of anthocyanins, which are antioxidant-rich pigments that give the juice its distinctive color.

According to one theory, antioxidants have the ability to bind with sugar and prevent it from having a significant impact on your insulin levels.

Even though we don’t fully understand how pomegranate juice affects blood sugar, there is more research to back up its effects.

According to a study published in the journal Nutrition Research, dark juice can reduce fasting blood glucose and insulin resistance in people with type 2 diabetes.

Similar to earlier studies, these findings became clear three hours after consumption of the fruity beverage.

What symptoms are associated with type 2 diabetes?

Type 2 diabetes’s primary signs and symptoms include:

  • Peeing more than usual (especially at night)
  • Feeling thirsty all the time
  • Feeling very tired
  • Unintentional weight loss
  • Itching around your penis or vagina, or repeatedly getting thrush
  • Cuts or wounds healing slowly
  • Blurred vision.
