Astroworld festival Horror: Travis Scott concert stampede victims rise

Bharti Shahani, 22, who was previously diagnosed with brain death, has died. She became the ninth death in the tragic incident.

Bharti Shahani, a 22-year-old student from Houston, died in a Houston hospital after being hurt in a stampede during rapper Travis Scott’s Astroworld festival.

The girl became the ninth victim of the incident.

Shahani spent several days in a coma, being on mechanical ventilation. Doctors diagnosed her with brain death.

The relatives of the deceased clarified that this was the first music festival in Bharti’s life and she was looking forward to it.

During the Travis Scott’s NRG Park festival in Houston, eight people aged 14 to 27 were tragically killed, and hundreds were injured.

Shahani had gone to the 50,000-strong celebration with her sister Namrata Shahani and cousin Mohit Bellani, but as the crowds grew larger, they were separated.

Bellani explained to ABC13:

“Once one person fell, people started toppling like dominos. It was like a sinkhole. People were falling on top of each other.

“There were like layers of bodies on the ground, like two people thick. We were fighting to come up to the top and breathe to stay alive.”

The issue of security measures at the event, which was Over the last week, issue of safety measures at the event has been a hot topic, drawing criticism from concertgoers and others.

The rapper stated that he did not know about what was happening in the crowd during his performance, so he did not stop the concert in time. Scott stressed that he was devastated by the incident and promised to cover all the costs of the victims’ funerals.

We will remind, the tragedy took place on Saturday, November 6 , in Houston. During Scott’s performance, a crowd of fans rushed to the stage, provoking a death crush.

According to CNN, the first responders learned about the victims around 9:30 pm, but the show went on for another 40 minutes. 

The concert was stopped only after it became known about dozens of victims. Many people have had cardiac arrest. 

Bharti Shahani, a 22-year-old Texas A&M University student, died Wednesday night after being ventilator in critical condition for days, attorney James Lassiter said.

Shahani’s family told reporters Thursday that it was her wish to donate her organs.

“This was her first music festival, our first music festival,” said Namrata Shahani, Bharti’s younger sister.
