Many will be jealous of hearing that Sundar Pichai, the new CEO of Alphabet, a parent company of Google, will receive a $ 2 million annual salary and will receive $ 240 million worth of stock as a bonus in the next year. This was made known by the data submitted by the company to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The 47-year-old Indian-born Pichai has been working at Google for 15 years and has been CEO since 2015. Considered particularly successful, he was also asked to take over the management of the parent Alphabet, following the recent departure of two co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin from the positions of CEO and Chairman of Alphabet.

It is noteworthy that Larry Page would receive a symbolic salary of only one dollar a year by 2019 for the position of chief executive of Alphabet, and by 2020 the company will pay $ 2 million to Pichai, according to the Reuters agency and the Wall Street Journal.

When he took over Google in 2015, Pichai had an annual salary of $ 652,500. Total annual earnings for 2018 (for 2019 not yet available) reached nearly $ 1.9 million (including costs for his personal safety and personal use of his plane).

It is, however, less than the equivalent of $ 376 million that Tim Cook had taken in 2011 when he took over Apple’s reins. However, in order to get the whole bonus, Pichai will have to catch some Alphabet targets that have not been made known.

Alphabet has become one of the largest stock companies in the world (over $ 933 billion), above Amazon, but behind Apple and Microsoft. The average annual base salary of CEOs of major US companies in 2018 was $ 1.2 million, according to analysis.
